Comfrey salve [Beinwellsalbe]

Beinwellsalbe
"Beinwellsalbe" from the Bahnhof Apotheke
Comfrey contains allantoin, a substance that stimulates cell division which is valuable for healing wounds. As comfrey salve it is an excellent remedy for wounds swellings and bruises. Internal usage of comfrey should be avoided because it contains hepatotoxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs).

Merck has a comfrey salve called Kytta salve.

I prefer however the "Beinwellsalbe" from The Bahnhof Apotheke in Kempten, Germany: http://www.bahnhof-apotheke.de/. It contains besides Comfrey [Beinwell] also Calendula [Ringelblume], Beeswax [Bienenwach], Propolis [Propolis], St. John's wort [Johanniskraut] and Lanolin [Wollwachs]. This combination makes it very effective for treating wounds and cuts. Apply a bit of "Beinwellsalbe" onto a bandage and cover the wound. It heals very quickly you don't need any disinfectants because this salve has already antibacterial properties.
